Audio CD Extractor (Sound Juicer CD Extractor) is able to rip CDs. Install it via: Applications > Ubuntu Software Center.

Install support for mp3 format through terminal:

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse

Setup Sound Juicer: Edit > Preferences and for Output Format choose .mp3 type.

You can create your own .mp3 type:

• click on Edit Profiles > New
• enter profile name, e.g. my mp3
• in the GStreamer pipeline field enter:

• audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! lame name=enc bitrate=192 ! id3v2mux

• in the File extension field enter: mp3

Restart the application and choose your new output format.

Make sure that you enter all necessary date, such as - Title, Artist,  Genre, Year, Song title, otherwise the application may crash when extracting.
