Ubuntu Server 8.10 with GDM Print E-mail

Install Ubuntu Server and log in.

Update and upgrade to insure that you have installed the most recent version:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

The easiest way to install GDM is to install the Ubuntu Desktop distribution. Type:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

and hit Enter.

Restart the PC or type:

sudo startX
and you will see the login screen.
